Even supply chains that are largely confined to one region are affected by global events.

The Iran war, along with a host of other macroeconomic issues, is proving to have an impact on sourcing decisions within the western hemisphere. Take World Emblem, said to be the world’s largest manufacturer of custom emblems, patches and nametags for business, with customers including such big name brands as New Era, Perry Ellis, Cintas and Levi’s. While it mostly produces in Mexico and the United States, with a more recent expansion to the Dominican Republic, World Emblem can’t escape the effects of the war in Iran. Explaining the connection on today’s episode is chief operating officer Jim Kozel. He takes us through the company’s thinking as it weighs the many factors that influence global sourcing strategy. In addition, he explains why Latin America is becoming an increasingly important part of nearshoring strategies, and why the United States is also in the mix, as World Emblem strives to achieve Amazon-like service levels for its customers. Hosted by Bob Bowman, Editor-in-Chief of SupplyChainBrain.
