Airbus recently said that it plans to deliver more aircraft to its customers in 2024 when compared to 2023 despite ongoing supply chain issues.
According to the Associated Press, the company said in an annual earnings report February 15 that it wants to deliver 800 commercial planes in 2024, up from 735 in 2023.
“We progressed on our production ramp-up against a backdrop of an operating environment that remains complex and affected by supply chain challenges and geopolitical conflicts, so at the end that’s quite an achievement in my view,” said CEO Guillaume Faury.
Faury added that Airbus already has a large order backlog for A320 narrow-body jets and that new airplane orders wouldn‘t be available until 2030 at the earliest.
“What’s happening in the broader industry – you refer to the situation of the competitor [Boeing] – has obviously an impact on all of this,” Faury said.
Airbus reported that its adjusted earnings before interest and taxes grew by 4% to $6.2 billion while revenue increased by 11% year-over-year.
Airbus also said that it plans to pay shareholders a special dividend on top of the regular dividend they receive due in part to the organization’s strong balance sheet, which included a 14% rise in cash.
